My Story

My journey to becoming a Nutritional Therapist ultimately began when my own health deteriorated.

My body started giving me many signs and symptoms such as digestive issues, food sensitivities, hormonal issues, fatigue, migraines & vertigo.

An undiagnosed condition of Migraine Associated Vertigo, (my migraines were silent, often happening without pain), caused such debilitating vertigo symptoms, that I became bed bound for days, weeks and months at a time, forcing me to resign from jobs I loved, give up driving, and causing much stress and distress to me, and my wider family, whom I had to rely on for help, whilst bringing up young children.

Over many years I sought help from many different medical practices in an effort to get my health and life back. The list was long from GPs, consultants, private specialist, osteopaths, physiotherapists, vestibular therapists, and medication. The road was long, however a chance conversation with a friend who was seeing a functional medicine / nutritionist, led me to their practice.

Even having collapsed with a bout of vertigo in my initial appointment, they felt they could help me. And so, my health journey with nutrition & functional medicine began. As early as six months later, I was off all medication and back leading a semi-normal life, although this journey was to continue for many more months and years.

This breakthrough in my own health recovery inspired me to build upon my background as a holistic therapist and reflexologist and sign up to a three-year degree course at the London College of Naturopathic Nutrition (CNM). I knew I wanted to help people that have their own lives blighted by health conditions.

The CNM taught me so much about how our body has an amazing ability to recover, given the right help to function & environment. What we ultimately put into our bodies through food & diet, our lifestyle and the environment, envelopes around us, along with our own genetics, it affect our bodies systems in good and potentially bad ways. Using a naturopathic and holistic approach we can understand our own signs and symptoms, not as isolated complaints but as signals from the body that all is not well.

Diet, nutrition and lifestyle has had a major impact on my own health, and this is also true for many other conditions, as well as our health and wellbeing. I know this only too well, and this drives my passion to helping others achieve this. Today, I am still continually focussed on keeping my condition under control and can appreciate how challenging this can be with a chronic or longterm condition.

I use a holistic and naturopathic approach alongside functional medicine testing if it is necessary, to gain a deeper understanding of your symptoms and body as a whole. The body will always try to heal itself, it just needs the right conditions to do so.
