Special Diets &
Food Intolerances

Ensuring the our diet and the food we eat, is not only right for us, but is also meeting our nutritional needs is very important to our health & wellbeing.

When following a special diet it is very important to ensure we are getting the adequate nutrition our body requires to function. When cutting out foods groups it can be very common large food nutrient groups, or be at risk of being deficient in areas.

The good news is I am here to help guide you and ensure your diet is meeting your needs. I can help you ensure your diet remains balanced and optimal and provide support with shopping, product ideas through to meal planning and recipes.

Common special diets I can often help clients with include:

  • Coeliac Diets

  • Gluten Free

  • Dairy Free

  • Egg Free

  • Autoimmune Diets

  • Vegan Diet

  • Vegetarian Diet

  • FODMAP Diets

Food intolerance is thought to effect over 20% of the population, characterised by a delayed reaction and can be associated with a wide range of symptoms, often promote an antibody response, or can occur due to insufficient enzyme such as lactose intolerance.  Food sensitivities can affect us at any stage of our lives and can often be difficult to ascertain with symptoms being delayed by days after an offending food has been consumed. Symptom’s can include:

  • Diarrhoea

  • Nausea, sometimes vomiting

  • Abdominal discomfort, cramps & IBS symptoms

  • Bloating

  • Gas

  • Headaches and migraines

  • Nasal Congestion

  • Hives

  • Eczema

  • Skin rashes, irritation and acne

  • General malaise

  • Fatigue

  • Anxiety

  • Joint pain

  • Sinusitis and rhinitis

Working with Claire

The majority of food intolerances can result from an immune response linked to factors such as poor digestion, dysbiosis, intestinal integrity. Each person will be individual therefore our aim is to identify problematic foods using elimination diets or food intolerance testing. Our aim will be to remove offending foods, address and remove any ‘bad’ pathogens, calm and optimise absorption, repopulate the gut with ‘good’ bacteria and optimise gut absorption and function.

People with food intolerances understandably often end up removing large food groups from their diet, however, often unaware they may also be removing large groups of nutrients causing possible imbalances and deficiencies in their diets. My aim is not only address but also to educate to ensure your diet and nutrition is as optimal as possible.

Other individuals may have conditions in which certain foods must totally be avoided, such as allergies or an autoimmune condition, such as coeliac disease. All traces of food groups have to avoided, such as gluten, wheat and dairy. This can be a very daunting and confusing time, and meeting your nutritional needs is equally important. Help is at hand, I can help guide you through this time and understand what to avoid, what to eat, how to shop, cook and keep your diet healthy and balanced to keep you in optimal health.

Please note:

Food intolerance testing either be offered as a stand alone service or within a consultation appointment or package where needed.

  • Stand alone testing starts from £149 including a full report and 30minute zoom consultation and feedback with results.

  • Food intolerance testing can be more beneficial alongside nutritional therapy consultation or a packages to provide supoport and education. Often when working with a client we want to focus and work on the cause, nutritional issues and look to reintroduce when once work has been completed on the gut.

“Claire has gone above and beyond in helping me.
I wanted to focus on making sure I was having a nutritional diet for myself while breastfeeding as I knew I would be lacking in a lot of areas. I also wanted to maintain a healthy relationship with food as I have a tendency to binge which can really upset my stomach.
The food plan Claire has given me is so easy to follow and when I go rogue (which is vary rare now) I know Claire is one message away to help me get back on track.”
